Role of Government - International

There are a number of international bodies on which Canada participates to enhance harmonization of regulatory efforts. - The United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods prepares recommendations published in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UN Recommendations). Canada participates very actively in the preparation of these Recommendations.
- The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG code) published by the International Maritime Organization and used for international consignments.
- Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air published by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO Technical Instructions).
- Association of American Railroads (AAR) Tankcar Committee.
